Job Description: An exciting opportunity to join the Openreach Civil Engineering organisation. Working closely with the Civils team manager to supervise and develop a team of excavation/reinstatement/ support gangs. You will be jointly responsible for ensuring work is delivered safely, compliantly, efficiently, and in accordance with all industry and company standards. The role will also require a significant element of site audit/ inspection on both an in-progress and retrospective basis. Occasionally, you may also be required to assist with physical excavation/reinstatement activity. Job Responsibilities: You will assist in developing the regional team with growing scope of synthetics, practices, skills and processes. To understand the regulatory, fair trading and competition rules and have an awareness of the Code of Practice relating to your work sufficiently to be able to comply. Responsible for all team members are compliant with essential health and safety provision signing, lighting and guarding in line with NRSWA and that work is delivered to both the standards of the method statements quality standards and the HAUC / Legislative standards. Equally ensuring the safety of the public, avoiding prosecutions and penalties, and relying on your own knowledge and specialist support as required. Supervising multiple teams carrying out works upon Openreach’s network to agreed safety & quality standards including compliance to all internal policy, methods statements and external guidelines & legislation, this will involve both in-progress and retrospective audits to ensure compliance to the required legislative requirement. Act as an escalation point for logistical issues that may arise and work resolve them, escalating difficulties to the appropriate level that cannot be readily overcome or are likely to jeopardise the delivery of service commitments. Ensuring work is carried out in an efficient and courteous manner when dealing with other site operatives, members of the public or any other third party, and role model high quality of workmanship standards. To be customer focused and conduct business in a professional manner Allocating team members to form excavation and reinstatement teams based upon skill, utilisation , geography and daily availability, ensuring all practices, conduct, performance & safety standards are complied with, driving right first time quality and delivery performance as well as operational efficiency from the team notifying the relevant parties of any reasons that members of the team are unable to attend for duty.
