Job Description:

As Diversity & Inclusion Lead, you’ll be accountable for the delivery of a cultural shift across the Group, to be an inclusive workplace for our people, in a complex unionised environment. You’ll lead on ensuring we’ve designed activities and learning interventions to increase our diversity and representation, in support of the overall talent strategy and our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) targets. Driving the D&I agenda throughout the business, you’ll develop collaborative networks, influencing key stakeholders, including the strategic leadership team, line managers, trade unions, diversity networks and inclusion groups to ensure these networks are the best route for us to hear less represented groups’ experiences.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be the business expert on all D&I matters, keeping up to date with legislative developments and current best practice, and to advise the senior leaders and working groups / networks as necessary.
  • Report quarterly on target movement to the Executive Board.
  • Own the overall communication for D&I activities across the Group, in collaboration with our PR and Communications teams, to increase awareness, role model and activities uptake.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and review of diversity monitoring systems across the business, to maximise the data available in order to identify and analyse D&I trends, patterns and areas for concern, and to be able to take positive action where appropriate.
  • Lead on the delivery of an ambitious and robust series of plans that addresses D&I issues internally and contributes to a culture change across Royal Mail Group (RMG).
  • Monitor organizational activity and progress in relation to these accreditations, so as to support the continued retention of these awards, feeding into Group wide end of year reporting.
  • Own and drive collaborative networks, to ensure the voice of our people is heard and shared with the strategy owner (Head of Department – Talent) and stakeholders, including the Executive Board.
  • Enable the achievement of equality accreditations and other awards or initiatives as appropriate.

Job Requirements:

  • A proven track record of creating and implementing D&I activities within a complex organisation.
  • Knowledge of the Equality Act (2010) and other relevant employment legislation.
  • Internal communications expert.
  • Clear gravitas and impact with excellent presentation skills, able to confidently lead and influence executive and c-suite leaders.
  • Demonstrable evidence working alongside key executive teams and board members, which has then led to clear tangible results that have influenced board and c-suite leaders, and set and driven the agenda with and through these groups.
  • Ability to design and deliver training and learning interventions for all levels to improve diversity.
  • Results and output focused.
