Job Description:

The Defect Liability Period (DLP) Coordinator, situated within the PHIVE Business Services delivery team, is responsible for coordinating and resolving all building and associated asset defects related to PHIVE and Parramatta Town Hall within the nominated defects liability period.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a central warranties and defects liability register for the new constructed and renovated facilities to ensure that all defects are recorded and tracked to resolution.
  • Conduct routine building inspections to identify new defects and attend to occupant concerns relating to known defects.
  • Report to the Building Manager on a regular basis the progress of defects and identify issues that may need further investigation or independent input to rectify.
  • Liaise directly with building contractors and external suppliers to communicate requirements and coordinate activity to rectify defects, recording evidence of resolution and closing out in the system.

Job Requirements:

  • Support the Business Services team in relation to day-to-day building operations as required
  • Demonstrated contractor management and construction management skills.
  • High attention to detail, ability to quickly process visual and verbal information to efficiently risk manage matters in high-risk situations in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others with an engaging approach and technique.
  • Well-developed conflict resolution skills, with a focus on de-escalation and win-win outcomes.
  • Well-developed planning, organisation and time management skills, including the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance competing
  • priorities in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment

Qualification & Experience:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Business, Project, Facilities or Contract Management, (or related discipline) or a significant amount of comparable industry experience in a project lead capacity. Valid NSW Govt Construction Industry White Card
  • Significant experience in managing start to end Defects Liability Periods on behalf of Building owners and operators, with a proven track record of achieving objectives.
  • 5+ years of experience in a project, contracts, facilities or engineering industry managing contractors and or building defects to effective resolutions.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements applicable to the designated area and the ability to practically apply this knowledge
  • Strong computer literacy to enable accurate data entry, recording of information and experience with a variety of software and security applications
