Job Description:

As a contributing member of Energy Management Team, this position will be responsible for assisting in the management of Pembina’s power portfolio; the pricing, analysis, and trading of positions; assisting sales and pricing teams with modeling and market information, and pricing and modelling of structure deals with Origination.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand carbon and contribute to the Pembina carbon modeling;
  • Work with operations to understand their requirements and limitations on efficiency initiates and asset utilization for power commercial opportunities;
  • Develop and execute strategies for Pembina’s power supply;
  • Understand the power business and establish a current and future cost of power;
  • Review the best power supply strategy for our assets;
  • Create a projection on wind discount and solar premium projections;
  • Power Utility Contract and tariff optimization including understanding our current contractual business situations, buy-downs and salvage activities and facilitate contracting activities (changes, revisions, updates), contact certification processes and contact management functions;
  • Manage the pricing, analysis, and trading related to power markets and positions;
  • Manage potential hedging strategies;
  • Analysis of new projects for commercial viability based on all energy sources and emissions impacts;

Job Requirements:

  • Advanced quantitative degree, preferably in Business, Economics or Engineering or related fields from an accredited college or university;
  • 5 years + of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience trading financial and physical power markets an asset;
  • Strong analytical skills with strong IT and/or data management skills and statistical proficiency;
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, investment, and financial reports;
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including expertise in Excel and Power Point; knowledge of Bloomberg is an asset; and
  • High level of verbal & written communication skills along with, along with strong Collaboration and influencing competencies.
