Job Description:

Working as part of the Community Safety and Support Services team you will be responsible for liaising with key stakeholders and working on initiatives to advocate to enhance identified service gaps to meet the current and future demands of the City. You will be guiding, supporting and assisting community groups, organisations and individuals to build their capacity and resilience through the provision of training, resources, programs and services relating to community support services. The role has a focus on vulnerable members of the community, therefore has a focus on projects related to homelessness, domestic and family violence, substance abuse, mental health, and at risk behaviours.
You are an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who supports community spirit and possesses well-developed written and verbal communication skills. You have the understanding of strategy development, implementation and review. Your administration skills are well developed and you have additional skills in research, and planning for community based initiatives. Additionally, you have previous experience in developing funding submissions, measuring and communicating social outcomes of relevant programmes; writing reports and bulletins; and forecasting, developing and monitoring budgets

Job Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of community development/capacity building theory, principles and practice with demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate community projects/events.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Community Support Services sector, in particular in the areas of homelessness, mental health, domestic and family violence and at risk behaviours

Qualification & Experience:

  • Sound experience developing and consulting with community groups, organisations and individuals and ongoing support, guidance and assistance.
  • Some experience in the oversight of service level agreements and contract management
  • Degree in Community Development, Social Science or related field, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience
    Sound report writing experience and understanding of strategy development, implementation and review
