Ryde City Council Jobs – Team Leader

Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to deliver a consistent and responsive library service that meets the community’s needs and to provide leadership and operational management of the branch library. As a senior member of the library service, you will contribute to the development and delivery of service improvements and to the achievements of the Library strategic plan.

In this role you will, support the Library Management Team by providing leadership and guidance with relation to people management processes including recruitment, rostering, staff development and performance management. You will lead and supervise the lending services of the library, manage the service desk and customer experience to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and seek assistance from specialist library staff as required

Job Requirements:

• proven people management and supervisory experience (minimum 2 years) in a public library or similar customer focussed environment, including the supervision and performance management of staff
• proven high level communication and interpersonal skills including report writing, procedure development, problem solving, negotiation and effective complaints handling skills and experience
• Understanding of current issues and trends in the library industry
• Knowledge of EEO principles, Privacy and Information Act
• Drivers Licence
• Current Working with Children Check
• Covid-19 vaccinated

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience in process improvement and leading/implementing change
• Experience in the delivery of a high-level public library and information service in a cross-cultural customer service environment
• Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and/or a degree level qualification in a related area with significant public library experience
