Job Description: Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS) has the potential to transform the lives of residents and equipment, adaptations and assistive technology can support re-enablement, promote independent living and contribute to preventing the need for care and support. It has always been recognised that the home environment is a key consideration for those with potential social care needs. At Sefton Council we are committed to develop our Digital offer, and align TECS with the Council’s community equipment, adaptations and Telecare service to reflect the growing changes in what can be done to promote less dependency on care or health services including hospital admissions, a loss of independence and a reliance on carers. Job Responsibilities: The TEC Officer will ensure the consideration of and development of TEC services in care planning and assessment pathways. The ambition of the Technology Enabled Care Services Strategy is to connect modern digital assistive technology into the heart of Sefton’s Adult Social Care; considering TEC in design and development of services. The benefits of adopting such technologies will create a service user experience which is flexible, enabling, responsive and reassuring. The TEC Officer will contribute more widely to the overall development of Sefton’s Digital Offer through training work, specialist projects and other activities, promoting the use of TECS and sharing knowledge and expertise of AT with providing advice and support to professionals and to members of the public requiring sensory and digital equipment in their homes to support independent living. The role will be a time limited role to progress the work programme of TECS in Sefton. It is an exciting time in Sefton as we see developing models of integrated working progressing it’s become apparent that dedicated officers to drive forward an identified TECS programme of work are essential to the improvement of joint service delivery, efficient services and in the promotion of independent living for the people that live in Sefton in the most effective way. Job Requirements: The successful candidate will have an up to date and specific knowledge of assistive technology options, well-developed communication skills and experience of assessing. The post holder will also have a good understanding of the legal framework for adult social care. They will be expected, and enabled, to contribute more widely to the overall development of Sefton’s Digital Offer through training work, specialist projects and other activities, both to promote the post holder’s own development and so that knowledge and experience of using Technology Enabled Care services in the council are effectively shared, to the overall benefit of social care services.
