Job Description:

This role will be focused on setting the tone and direction of social media for Selfridges, covering both the UK and international markets. The Selfridges social media communications strategy is to be managed in the approach of a long lead publishing magazine; with copy and visuals approved by the Director of PR, Events & Social Media, with the to view of scheduling 2 to 3 months in advance using social media calendar tools. There will be full accountability for the management of Selfridges social media presence, as well as being responsible for the strategic planning and delivery of campaigns, third party relationships and internal reporting and presentations.  This leader will drive awareness, extend our brand social media reach and develop a genuine communication, with new and existing customers, driving engagement and advocacy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise, advice and guidance to the PR team in regards to best practice to support them and the Director of PR and Events in delivering the social media strategy
  • Continuously monitor trends through site analytical tools to understand more about how our customers engage with Selfridges on social platforms
  • Working alongside the category PR team to ensure content is aligned with overall communications strategy
  • Build an engaged following, working with influencers and brand advocators to enhance brand, drive traffic and effective word of mouth positioning
  • Monitor market trends through desk research, using competitor analysis, Hitwise and Google insights
  • Maintain focus on social media by driving awareness of plans and results to the wider business and key stakeholders.
  • Take full responsibility for tracking engagement and interaction, to measure and improve the success of social media activity (reviewing engagement, customer service, traffic and revenue)
  • Lead the team on campaign content, seeing ideas through from concept to completion and ensure campaigns are delivered to plan
  • Alongside the Director of PR, Events, develop and lead a social media strategy across multiple platforms and geographic markets to increase awareness, customer engagement and support revenue
  • Monitor, report and benchmark with likeminded brands and competition
  • To drive the social strategy in-line with Selfridges’ creative schemes, campaigns and activity – working across departments to create a consistent tone of voice and customer journey
  • Develop the social media team to create engaging content with best in class community management
  • Successfully manages stakeholders to drive the social media strategy through others
  • Keep up to date and understand the newest trends or changes in social networking sites
  • Create KPIs for campaigns and track progress

Job Requirements:

  • Experience uploading and editing content within a CMS
  • Excellent experience of managing online content; using CMS & photo imaging programmes
  • Experience of leading and developing a high performing team
  • Strong planning skills; with ability to manage multiple projects and campaigns at one time
  • Digital marketing experience
  • Confident copywriter with a flair for language
  • A working knowledge of SEO
  • Photoshop & Dreamweaver experience preferable
  • Previous e-commerce website and retail experience preferable
  • Extensive experience managing social platforms across international territories
