Job Description: This position is located in the North Las Vegas District Office at 4340 Simmons Street, North Las Vegas, NV. Job Responsibilities: Claims Specialists conduct interviews with the public to obtain, clarify, and verify information. This information pertains to initial and continuing eligibility for retirement, survivors, disability, health insurance benefits, and eligibility for supplemental security income including State supplements. Resolve discrepancies, clarify issues and make final decisions for initial and post-entitlement for benefits and payments. Adjudicate and authorize entitlement or disallowance actions at all levels of difficulty and complexity under programs administered by SSA. Job Requirements: Must have a qualifying degree or certificate at time of appointment Relocation expenses will not be paid Selective Service Registration, if applicable (www.sss.gov) U.S. Citizenship required Complete the initial online assessment and USA Hire Assessment, if required Background and/or security investigation required Selectees are required to serve a trial period Qualification & Experience: Three years of general experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the federal service.
