Job Description:
This position is located in the North Las Vegas District Office at 4340 Simmons Street, North Las Vegas, NV.
Job Responsibilities:
- Claims Specialists conduct interviews with the public to obtain, clarify, and verify information.
- This information pertains to initial and continuing eligibility for retirement, survivors, disability, health insurance benefits, and eligibility for supplemental security income including State supplements.
- Resolve discrepancies, clarify issues and make final decisions for initial and post-entitlement for benefits and payments.
- Adjudicate and authorize entitlement or disallowance actions at all levels of difficulty and complexity under programs administered by SSA.
Job Requirements:
- Must have a qualifying degree or certificate at time of appointment
- Relocation expenses will not be paid
- Selective Service Registration, if applicable (www.sss.gov)
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Complete the initial online assessment and USA Hire Assessment, if required
- Background and/or security investigation required
- Selectees are required to serve a trial period
Qualification & Experience:
- Three years of general experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the federal service.
