Job Description:

Claims Specialists conduct interviews with the public to obtain, clarify, and verify information about initial and continuing eligibility for retirement, survivors, disability, health insurance benefits, and eligibility for supplemental security income including State supplements. In addition, they resolve discrepancies, clarify issues and make final decisions for initial and post-entitlement for benefits and payments; adjudicate and authorize entitlement or disallowance actions at all levels of difficulty and complexity under programs administered by SSA.

Job Requirements:

  • Selectees are required to serve a trial period.
  • Candidates are required to participate the Competency Assessment Interview Process (CAIP).
  • Security and/or background investigation required.
  • Must have a qualifying degree or certificate at the time of appointment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Qualification & Experience:

  • To qualify for appointment to the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have completed all requirements of an academic course of study leading to an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or qualifying certificate program from an accredited educational institution within the 2 years preceding the closing date of this announcement.
