Job Description:

This position is located in INL/AME and reports to the Deputy Director. The incumbent serves as a principal advisor to the Director and Deputy Director on a number of cross-cutting and foreign policy issues related to INL’s programming in Africa and the Middle East.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advises the office on issues related to the formulation , development, implementation, and oversight of international narcotics control, crime, and civilian police and criminal justice sector reform programs.
  • Research, learn and apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work product.
  • Performs a wide range of special assignments and projects encompassing the full range of programs for which the office has overall responsibility
  • Manages the workload and provides oversight and guidance to a team of six staff which can include Civil Service officers , Personal Services Contractors (PSC), Third-Party Contractors (TPCs), and Foreign Service Officers.
  • Provides expert assistance to overseas posts in the establishment and oversight of INL’s multi -million-dollar counternarcotic and anticrime programs abroad.

Job Requirements:

  • Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information
  • Verification of employment eligibility in the United States is required.
  • One year probationary period, unless excepted by regulation.
  • Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Have a bachelor’s or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in international law, international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities.
