Suncor Hiring – Project Engineer

Job Description:

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is excited about becoming a key contributor within a dynamic team. This role provides you with the opportunity to apply your skills, knowledge and vision to implement and improve upon existing processes to enhance overall effectiveness and value within the pipelines group. As member of an integrated team in our pipeline office, you will be responsible for executing multiple concurrent capital and operating expense projects while utilizing our ADEM process.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify, evaluate, recommend, and implement opportunities to gain efficiencies through new technologies or improved work methods
• Work with project controls to manage, track and report on project status
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior colleagues and contractors
• Conduct / coordinate engineering evaluations and studies as well as contribute in the development of operations and maintenance practices and procedures
• Provide in-depth project management and technical support on the design and construction of new projects while adhering to our Journey to Zero safety mindset
• Participate in or lead the development of new projects
• Build strong positive relationships while interacting closely with diverse groups of consultants, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for the overall effectiveness of project development and execution in alignment with our “stronger together” focus.

Job Requirements:

• Non-authoritative leadership skills to influence and manage multiple groups
• A Professional designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
• A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
• Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
• Knowledge of CSA Z662 Pipeline Code
• Continuous improvement mindset with strong communication and decision-making skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Proven project engineering competency and a strong technical capability
