Job Description:
Bell recently formed a Rapid Prototyping (RP) organization. One of the primary responsibilities of the RP organization is to serve Bell’s Innovation and program teams by transforming their designs into concept demo air vehicles. Concept demo air vehicles include both clean-sheet and existing air vehicle modifications. Beyond that, the RP organization is responsible for fabrication of risk reduction test articles in support of concept demo air vehicle development. The RP organization is expected to collaborate with design teams beginning at project inception to accelerate project execution by maximizing concurrency of air vehicle build planning activity. The RP organization is comprised of four teams to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above. Those teams are internal manufacturing, external manufacturing, tooling, and air vehicle build. Furthermore, there is a metrology team within the air vehicle build team. The metrology team not only serves RP, but Manufacturing Innovation and commercial / military developmental and production programs. The candidate who applies for this job requisition will serve within the RP metrology team and have responsibility to perform and/or lead the initiatives listed below:
Job Responsibilities:
- Properly evaluate and interpret engineering models, engineering GD&T intent, and inspection results
- Manage calibration schedules for metrology equipment within the RPC
- Develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovative thinking
- Complete and maintain inspection records and nonconformance reports as applicable with accuracy and timeliness
- Mentor less experienced metrology staff and ensure work assignments ensure technical growth
- Ability to develop and utilize manual measuring techniques to aid in validation of portable metrology results
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to assess their needs and develop a metrology approach to suit their project’s objectives
- Apply advanced portable metrology techniques to assess aerospace metallic and composite structure to include detail and assembly tooling
- Manage daily metrology workflow at the Rapid Prototyping Center (RPC) to drive efficiency and optimal equipment utilization
- Perform measurements and data post processing using portable metrology systems such as laser tracker, Creaform, and Romer arm
Job Requirements:
- At least 5 years aerospace experience within the areas listed below:- Laser tracker metrology
- Creaform metrology
- Romer arm metrology
- Polyworks software
- Spatial Analyzer software
- VX Elements software
