Job Description:
This position is located within the Assistant Regional Director for Science Applications, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of the Interior. The incumbent serves as a staff biologist and technical expert on ecosystem conservation and habitat conservation under the Strategic Habitat Conservation (SHC) frame.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide scientific and technical expertise in progressively refining fish and wildlife conservation strategies and plans for assigned issue(s) or area; and collaborate and explore innovative means to leverage human and financial assets among agencies, organizations, and partnerships to implement the functional elements of the SHC framework in pursuit of a sustainable ecosystem.
- Develop partnerships by creating, guiding, facilitating, and nurturing interdependent networks among scientists, academia, and others, as well as other agencies, organizations, sufficient to support collaborative application of the SHC Framework.
- Participate in multi-agency SHC projects intended to support ecosystem conservation efforts across geographic areas, other boundaries, and programs; collaborates with partners and other stakeholders such as other Federal and state fish and wildlife agencies.
- Serve as a technical expert and provides a forum for private, state, and federal entities interested in a sustainable geography to exchange ideas, information, and technology; and to actively engage in leveraging and targeting their collective assets to secure the science needed to achieve desired ecosystem conditions.
Job Requirements:
- File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of selection and annually from then on.
