Zara Online Application – General Accountant

Job Description:

The general accountant is responsible for the general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation and monthly accounting closing cycle, with special focus on the portion related to leases accounting under IFRS – International Financial Standards. This includes everything from regulatory compliance with accounting standards and practices to working with the Chief Accountant to ensure an accurate closing.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for day to day finance and account operations for a portfolio of 100+ retail leases within USA, Puerto Rico and Canada
• Monthly accrual/prepayment reconciliation for all Real State Taxes
• Collaborates with the Chief Accountant on submitting the Monthly/Quarterly analytical review preparation
• Preparation of specific reports to Management related to leases portfolio
• Ensure timely closing of accounts.
• Collaborate with HQ on all monthly tasks and reporting related to Real State Accounting. Includes the final supervision/analytical review of all lease accounting entries booked centrally by the team located in HQ on a monthly basis.
• Handle supervision of all entities leases portfolio, including the management of the relationship with landlord’s Administration Department.

Job Requirements:

• IFRS, US GAAP and ASPE knowledge
• Able to work independently and highly meticulous
• Preferable Audit experience
• Excellent strategic planning skills and able to interact with all levels
• Min 4 years’ experience in financial accounting, particularly in the Retail industry. Experience in Leases accounting is a plus.
• CPA or Min Degree in Accounting/ACCA Qualifications
