Job Description:

The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with a diverse range of applicants and stakeholders via phone and email
  • Identifying integrity risks and escalating complex, sensitive, or priority cases, when appropriate
  • Undertaking administrative duties, including managing inbound calls, emails enquiries, and formulating correspondence such as reports, emails, and referrals
  • Assessing and deciding application pathways in line with legislation, procedures, and strict protocols
  • Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of records in departmental files, systems and databases, including taking accurate notes
  • Conducting research and exercising sound judgement for complex situations
  • Managing enquiries and time-sensitive assignments after standard business hours, with minimal supervision.
